Troia is rated 25 in Europe by Golf World magazine and is one of the must-play courses in Portugal. It was built in the late 60s, early 70s but maintains its quality relative to all of the magnificent new courses that have been developed in recent years. A links, the course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr and is possibly the toughest in Portugal. Occupying a fantastic position on an isolated peninsula, Troia is reached by a small car ferry from Setubal, but the journey is well worth the effort. Troia has a unique charm and here you will be following in the footsteps of some of the first holiday golfers nearly 40 years ago, not to mention professional who have played in various high profile tournaments including the Portuguese Open.
